Appeared in 26 matches during her freshman campaign ... Contributed 76 kills in 183 chances for an average of 1.46 kills per game ... Piled up 39 total blocks on the year, five solo and 34 block assists ... Enjoyed a outstanding performance in only her collegiate match against Harding on Aug. 26, collecting a season-high 10 kills with three blocks.

Attended Peoria High School and played for head coach Robin McDowell as a middle blocker ... All State Honorable Mention, 1st team All Region and Team MVP in 2005.

"In limited playing time last season, Melissa turned in a quality freshmen year, and showed great potential for the future. She had an outstanding spring season, and was considered the most improved Lady Buff by the coaching staff. Melissa was able to speed up her offense considerably and took her blocking to the next level. Most importantly, Melissa learned how to work hard all the time, and there is no doubt she is now on pace to reach her full potential."
