ABILENE, Texas - Senior Kent Neal fired an opening-round 68 and sits in a tie for second place just one stroke behind the overall leader after Monday's first round of the ACU Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate at the Diamondback Golf Club.

As a team, the Buffs end the day in seventh place with a team score of 292, while Cameron University leads the event after shooting a first-round team score of 280.

Behind Neal, WTAMU sophomore Roy Holdeman was the team's next best performer with a first round 74 to sit in a tie for 36th place, just one shot up on teammates Spud Dillingham and Jon Musser who each shot 75 on the day. Sophomore Geoff Phemister is also in the hunt in a tie for 58th place after opening play with a round of 77 on Monday.
