Sept. 22, 2006

AMARILLO, Texas - The West Texas A&M athletics department, Amarillo National Bank and United Supermarkets have announced a joint effort to promote Buffalo football with an "early bird" ticket promotion and t-shirt giveaway for "Maroon and White Night," WTAMU's nationally televised contest against Abilene Christian on October 19.

Amarillo National will offer 5,000 half-price general admission tickets to the contest beginning next Monday, Sept. 25, and continuing for one week, or until they are gone. All tickets are $5 and will be available at all walk-in branches in the Amarillo area. Buffalo football players and cheerleaders will be on hand on Monday from 3-5 pm at all ANB branches to sign autographs and give free WT stickers to children under 12.

United Supermarkets and ANB will provide free Maroon and White t-shirts to the first 4,000 fans at the game. The game will be broadcast live on College Sports Television (CSTV). Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm on Oct. 19 at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.

"This is an opportunity for the entire community to show off the Texas Panhandle to football fans around the nation," said Michael McBroom, WTAMU Athletics Director. "Across the country, people will be tuned in to a football game in the Texas Panhandle. It's our opportunity - as a community - to show them what West Texas Football is all about: an exciting team with loyal and vocal fans."

Ami Lowder, Assistant Marketing Director for ANB expressed her excitement about joining with WTAMU Athletics.

"Amarillo National Bank is always proud to support WTAMU," Lowder said. "Many of our employees either graduated from WT or continue their education there. From the undefeated football team to the nationally ranked broadcasting program, WT offers a well-rounded education and ANB is so proud to be a part of it."

West Texas A&M was selected earlier this year to be a part of the inaugural NCAA Division II football television package. College Sports Television is seen in 15 million homes around the country.
