The West Texas A&M University baseball team will play in it's first Lone Star Conference Tournament this weekend, May 6-9 at Abilene, Texas. The Buffs will face the University of Central Oklahoma in their opening game at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Abilene Christian's Crutcher Scott Field. WTAMU was swept by UCO earlier in the season in a LSC crossover series March 4-5.

WTAMU goes into the postseason with a 26-27 overall record and 11-9 in LSC-South action. UCO is currently 36-17 on the year and 18-6. UCO was named the North Division's top seed after tying Cameron University with the top record in the North. UCO won the season series against Cameron University for the tie-breaker.

Sophomore center fielder Justin Graham tops the Buffs at the plate with a .367 batting average, with five doubles, two triples and 20 RBI. RBI leader sophomore infielder Brian Schupp has 35 RBI with a .385 on-base percentage. Schupp posts a .307 batting average with a team high three triples and is second in home runs with five. Sophomore designated hitter Brady Ribinskas leads the team with six home runs and boasts an average of .292 in 37 games.

The Lone Star Conference Tournament is a double elimination format, with the championship game on Tuesday, May 9. Tickets at $10 per day or $25 for a tournament pass, which is good for all games, including the championship game. The championship game admission is $5. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free.
